International travelers will need a GSM or satellite phone. GSM stands for Global System for Mobile Communications. These phones work in most countries (except the United States). GSM phones offer advantages such as a high level of communication security, international roaming, advanced services, and excellent sound quality. Satellite phones are designed to be used in remote locations, such as forests, deserts, and tropical areas.
